UK

The forests owned by UPM in the UK are located in Scotland and Wales and were established in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s as commercial, spruce dominated plantations on a 30 to 40 year production cycle. Sitka spruce dominated the first rotation. Other exotic species include Japanese larch, Norway spruce and Lodgepole pine. Native species are being introduced during regeneration to create species and structural diversity in the second rotation.
